Time frame for DNS query update

Postby harrison on Sat Jun 09, 2007 10:05 pm

I was wondering what the time frame is for getting DNS queries on the siteplayer. I would like to connect to devices with something like ATDTmydomain.com:80 instead of ATDT10.10.0.134:80.

The reason this is important is that I am planning on moving servers which would mean I would have to change all of my devices to use the new ip address, which is a huge support hassle.

Hi Harrison,

It will be about a month before we have another version where this will be enabled. We are currently working on newer versions of SitePlayer hardware and the DNS code will be tested at the same time.

Is this feature ever going to be implemented? This was promised 3 years ago and has now become a deal breaker as to wheither I purchase more devices or not. Do I need to look elsewhere? Is there anything in the works that is going to replace the current offering? My project must move forward and I would prefer to stay with the Siteplayer Telnet.

Thanks, Max
